This update is intended to provide clarity, transparency, and realistic timelines regarding kratom export for our partners and customers.

We would like to share the latest official update regarding the current status of kratom exports from Indonesia and the steps being taken before shipments can resume.
Kratom Export Update: Understanding the “Uji Petik” Process
Currently, kratom exports are in a technical and administrative phase known locally as “uji petik.”
In simple terms, uji petik refers to a production capacity verification test.
What does this mean in practice?
During this process, authorities conduct on-site tests at registered kratom export companies to determine:
- How many kilograms of kratom powder a company’s machinery can realistically produce per hour
- Whether the installed production equipment matches the declared operational capacity
As a result, authorities use the test results to re-determine the export quota for each individual company or brand.
This process is not punitive and does not indicate any ban or prohibition. Instead, it forms part of a broader effort to standardize and formalize kratom exports.
Who Is Being Tested?
Importantly, authorities require all registered kratom export companies to undergo this process.
No company is exempt from uji petik testing.
For this reason, each company must complete the test before the process can move forward.
Only after authorities test all registered exporters can they finalize the consolidated report.
Next Step: Ministerial Approval for the Kratom Export
Once testing for all companies is completed, officials will prepare a consolidated report.
After that, the relevant authorities will review the report and submit it to the Minister of Trade for final approval.
Only after the minister signs the approval can kratom exports officially resume.
Expected Timeline
- Latest expected completion of testing & reporting:
Last week of February
What Happens After Kratom Export Are Reopened?
Even after exports are officially reopened, shipments cannot depart immediately.
Each shipment must still complete standard compliance steps, including:
- Quality control and laboratory testing
- Documentation verification
- Issuance of export permits (PE)
- Final customs clearance
These post-approval steps typically take around two weeks.
Kratom Export Estimated Shipping Timeline
Based on the current process and realistic administrative timelines:
- Export reopening: Late February
- Permit & compliance processing: ~2 weeks
- Estimated shipment window: Early March (latest)
We believe this is a realistic and responsible estimate, allowing sufficient time for compliance without rushing critical quality checks.
